End of Year Appeal: Help us fight on the next front for evacuation

In the wake of the Federal Government’s repeal of the Medevac laws, there are many women and men still trapped offshore needing urgent evacuation. Lives remain at risk.

And I want to assure you that we’re now fighting for evacuation on the next front.

Can you help us to continue this life-saving work?

The fact is that the Government’s repeal does nothing to change its legal duty of care to evacuate critically ill women and men for medical treatment here. This duty existed before the laws – and it still exists.

There is still work to be done. And it must be done now.

This means we’re mobilising to take urgent action for people still held on Nauru and in PNG. This includes people:
·         approved by the Government before the repeal who are still stuck offshore;

·         who had applied under Medevac the laws but hadn’t yet had their application decided; and

·         who hadn’t yet been able to apply.

We’re also working to protect the rights of those brought here for treatment.

Our legal expertise is critical. We’re continuing to work collaboratively with doctors, leveraging the support of our pro bono law firm partners,  providing expert legal advice, and taking legal action to ensure that rights are upheld and lives protected.

Help us take up this fight on the next front. We cannot risk anyone being left behind.

We will continue in this work until every single woman and man on Nauru and in PNG are evacuated from this cruelty to safety.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our End of Year Appeal.

Yours sincerely,
