Help us to shape real change

Wednesday, May 31 2023

Right now, we are just at the start of the road to fundamental reform so crucial to the rights and lives of people seeking asylum and refugees.

But a big battle for justice stills lies ahead.

Amidst this, we are launching our End of Financial Year Appeal.

We’re delighted to announce a match challenge of $75,000 by our major pro bono law firm partners.

This means your tax-deductible donation will be matched dollar for dollar until 30 June – and your impact doubled.

Our profound thanks to our pro bono law firm partners, who include: Allens, Holding Redlich, DLA Piper, Maddocks, Lander & Rogers, Gilbert & Tobin, Colin Biggers & Paisley, Rigby Cooke Lawyers, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Wotton + Kearney, Hive Legal, Barry Nilsson and Clyde & Co.

We simply could not continue to do the work we do without the partnerships and collaboration of our pro bono partners. Ultimately, so much of our work is powered by these partnerships – and the will of the community for decency and justice.

Right now, there is a major opportunity for us to participate in shaping real change.

Real change demands a big reform agenda and swift action. The reforms must:
• Abolish mandatory, indefinite detention
• Establish a reassessment process for people refused temporary protection
• Increase significantly the Refugee and Humanitarian intake
• Resolve the situation of all people held in PNG and Nauru, and those brought back, offering enduring protection
• Establish a fair process for assessing refugee claims

We need your support to work fearlessly to help shape the change that is still so desperately needed.

Please consider giving to our Refugee Legal End of Financial Year Appeal.

Sincerely and with thanks,

David Manne

Executive Director & Principal Solicitor
